THIS is scandalous. Former Vh1 reality contestant and murder suspect, Ryan Jenkins, 32, was found dead in a British Columbia hotel room Sunday. In initial reports it appears that it was a suicide.
Ryan Jenkins, a successful investment banker, who had been a contestant on Vh1’s reality show “Megan Wants a Millionaire”, was charged Thursday for the murder of his ex-wife, Jasmine Fiore, a former model. Jenkins has a past of domestic abuse and a sex addiction.
Authorities had been looking for Jenkins in Canada for a few days now and received a tip that he was in a British Columbia hotel room. According to hotel staff a woman had rented the room for three days while a man, apparently Jenkins, waited outside in the car. The police found Jenkins body upon the arrival.
This is a tragic story, there is no doubt. It has all the aspects of a bad TV movie. But there may be another story beneath the tragedy: VH1’s exploitation of clearly unstable people.
Jenkins also appeared on “I Love Money 3”, another VH1 reality which has yet to air. Will VH1 run the show? Let’s hope not.
